The deteriorating state of insecurity in Gaza manifested itself today in the kidnapping by armed men of the principal of the American School and his assistant, Wednesday morning, during a time where daily breaches of the law are increasing.
At approximately 6.
55am on December 21st, according to the Center’s fieldworkers, armed persons kidnapped the Dutch principle of the American school, Hendrik Taatgen, and his assistant Brian Ambrosio, on their way to school near the old Hyundai premises on Al Nasser St.
in north Gaza district.
They were released at 14.
30 on the same day.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights considers the kidnapping of foreigners as a continuation of the state of insecurity and disrespect of the rule of the law.
Thus, it reconfirms its condemnation of such incidents which target foreigners as well as the use of weapons in the Palestinian street.
The Center calls upon the PNA to secure release for kidnapped persons in such cases and bring kidnappers to justice under any circumstances.
