In the morning of Monday 11 March 2013, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights received a delegation from the Breer Primary School to the library in Jabaliya refugee camp.
Miss Tahani Abdel Rahman, Al Mezan’s librarian, presented a brief summary about Al Mezan and its activities as a human rights organization.
The children learned about human rights and in particular child rights.
Miss Rahman talked about Al Mezan’s library services, discussing in particular the strength of the student section in the library.
The students then spent time browsing the books, after which student Muhanad Ali presented a short story for his colleagues.
The students then took time to use Al Mezan’s computer to learn about the library applications.
The 20 students were accompanied by the school librarian, Saed Al Shrafi; and the Arabic teacher, Fahed Abu Jalhoum.
At the end of their visit, the students and their teachers thanked Al Mezan for receiving them and for Al Mezan’s hospitality.
The visit is part of Al Mezan’s mission to engage with school children in protecting and raising their awareness of economic, cultural and social rights, as well as the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
