Former Attorney General, Mr.

He was released today.
No information on the conditions of the kidnapping or the identity of perpetrators has yet been revealed.
Despite the decline in the political ramifications of the state of insecurity, many incidents in Gaza indicate that it still persists.
According to Al Mezan fieldwork investigations, Al Qedra, 72, was abducted at app.
9.
30am on 12 February 2007 while he was driving down Street No.
2 in Al Qarara Town near Khan Younis.

He was released on 13 February 2007, in Gaza City, after being held captive for two days by unknown gunmen.
The kidnappers and their demands remain unidentified.
Al Mezan reported that Al Qedra was handcuffed and blindfold during his period of captivity, therefore was unable to recognize his kidnappers or the place in which they had held him.
However, it was also reported that he was not subjected to maltreatment.
In a separate incident, Abdul Karim Habib was killed after being abducted and subsequently held captive for two days.
Al Mezan condemns the abduction of former Attorney General.
It sees in this event the persistence of a continued state of insecurity and infringement of the law, which continues to place peoples' lives and property at risk and further undermines the rule of law in the Gaza Strip.
Al Mezan stresses the importance of initiating investigations on such incidents which obstruct the law.
The perpetrators of these acts must be brought to justice for the institutions entrusted with upholding justice and establishing law and order to regain people's trust.
In the Center's view, this is the only manner in which an end may be brought to the escalation of crime in Palestinian society, and allow it to be spared from a wave of acts of revenge.
Al Mezan renews its calls upon the Palestinian National Authority to take all the necessary steps within its authority to bring the perpetrators of crimes and violations to justice.
