At approximately 10:45 am Saturday 23 June 2012, a locally launched rocket hit the awning of the administrative office of a soccer field located in the Ash-Shawaf neighborhood in the east of Abasan, eastern Khan Younis district.
As a result, Ali Mu’taz Ash-Shawaf, 5, was killed and another five persons were injured, including a child.
Al Mezan has identified the injured as:
· Mu’taz Ibrahim As-Shawaf, 31, who sustained shrapnel wounds in the abdomen and whose condition was described as critical;
· Omar Mahmoud Al Batsh, 29, sustained shrapnel in hands and legs;
· Ayyoub Omar Tabash, 2, sustained shrapnel wounds;
· Zaki Mohammed Abu Msabeh 55, sustained shrapnel wounds in his hands; and
· Yousif Mohammed Abu Teir, 25, sustained shrapnel in his right hand.
The injured persons were admitted to Gaza European Hospital to receive medical treatment.
