At approximately 3:00 pm on Thursday 22 March 2012, Mustafa Juma’ Az-Za’eem, 32, and Ahmed Jamal Ad-Dura, 21, were admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the two men were trying to cut apart a cylindrical metal object with an electric machine tool at their shop in the north of Al Maghazi refugee camp.
The object exploded and the men were injured; Az-Za’eem sustained wounds in different parts of the body and was referred to Ash-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, while Ad-Dura was injured in the right hand.
The two men collect iron scrap and parts from destroyed cars which they disassemble and resell.
The police arrived at the scene of the incident and opened an investigation.
