At around midnight on Friday, 25 April 2014, police in Khan Younis found the body of Fadel Ahmed Mohammed Al Astal, 53, in his office in Khan Younis.
He had sustained bullet wounds to the head, which had been covered with a bag, and his hands and legs were tied.
Al Astal’s family reported to the police that they could not find him on Wednesday evening as he had not returned to his home, which is located in the Al Kateeba neighborhood in the city.
Al Astal is a money changer in Khan Younis.
In the morning hours of Thursday, 24 April 2014, a motorcycle owned by Al Astal was found and the police arrested two persons.
During interrogation, one of them confessed to killing Al Astal, using his gun, while the other helped him in hiding the motorcycle.
Islam Shahwan, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, stated that the police arrested the killer of Al Astal in the early morning hours of Friday.
The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expresses sorrow for the killing of Al Astal and condemns the crime.
Al Mezan welcomes the police efforts in swiftly arresting the suspects and binging justice to the family of the deceased.
