At approximately 8:30 am on Sunday 12 October 2003, unknown persons opened fire on 65-year-old Mr.
Sa’ad Wadee’ Shuheebar, the Palestinian Deputy Attorney General.
Mr.
Shuheebar was near his home on Jalaa Street in Gaza City.
Someone fired two bullets into his right leg.
The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights abhors such incidents, incidents that aim to undercut the independence of the judiciary in the Palestinian National Authority and to affect the rulings made by courts of law.
The Center condemns this attack and calls upon the Palestinian Authority to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Al Mezan warns of the consequences for an independent judiciary if the criminals are not tried.
