Short Link:
At 13:00 on Friday, 2 February 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders of Khan Younis tear-gassed and opened fire at tens of young adults and youths demonstrating tens of meters away from the eastern borders of Khuzaa, Abasan Al Kabeera, Abasan Al Jadida, and Al Qarara, in Khan Younis. The demonstration was held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. During the demonstration, protesters set tires on fire and threw stones at Israeli forces. Confrontations continued for several hours, leaving one child, Thaer Salih Al Astal, 16, injured in the lower part of his abdomen. Thaer was taken to Naser hospital to receive the necessary treatment of his moderate injury. Tens of other protesters were suffocated due to inhaling tear gas, which was heavily used by Israeli forces.
