IOF Opens Fire at Palestinian Peaceful Protestors at Erez Crossing; Four Persons Injured

At approximately 2:30 pm on Friday, 26 February 2016, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire and launched tear gas canisters at tens of Palestinian young men and children who were participating in a popular event to protest against Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the broader West Bank. The clashes between the IOF and the young men took place at Erez crossing and continued until 5:00 pm on the same day. As a result, four participants were injured, including a child. Al Mezan identified their names as follows:

  • Mahmoud Wajih Jamal Abu Soltan, 16, sustained a bullet wound in his right leg;
  • Bilal As’ad Ahmed An-Natour, 18, sustained bullet wounds at his both legs;
  • Mohammed Majed Ahmed Abu Ajram, 21; and
  • Ali Mohammed Ahmed Al Maqousi, 19, both were directly hit by gas canisters, they sustained wounds and bruises.
