At approximately 1:30 pm on Friday, 5 February 2016, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire and launched tear gas canisters at tens of Palestinian young men and children who were participating in a popular event to protest against Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the broader West Bank. The clashes between the Israeli occupation forces and the young men took place east of Al Bureij refugee camp.  As a result, Iyad Ihab Hafez Abu Hjeir, 14, sustained a bullet wound in his buttocks and was carried to Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah where his injury was described as serious. Clashes between the Israeli soldiers and the Palestinians continued until 5:10 pm on the same day.
