Short Link:
At approximately 2:00 pm on Friday, 15 January 2016, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire and launched tear gas canisters at tens of young men and children who were participating in a popular event to protest against Israeli violations in Jerusalem and the broader West Bank. The clashes between the Israeli occupation forces and the young men took place at the border areas east of Al Bureij refugee camp and continued until 5:30 pm on the same day. As a result, Mohammed Adel Abu Zayed, 18, resident of Al Bureij refugee, was killed after due to sustaining a bullet wound in his nick. Two others were injured, one was moderately wounded, and the other, Mohammed Majdi Azmi Qeita, 26, resident of Khan Younis, sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen and was admitted to Al Aqsa hospital in Deir Al Balah. He was subject to urgent surgery but he was pronounced dead after one hour. It’s worth mentioning that Palestinian young men and children usually gather peacefully in that area.
