Short Link:
The Gaza police has continued its campaign against “Western and weird” haircuts and clothes (low waist trousers and tight shirts).
Recently, at approximately 11:00 am on Saturday 13 April 2013, the police arrested Mohammed Naser Baker, 19, while he was selling cigarettes at the car parking in Al Shate’ refugee camp.
One of the police members slapped him and took him to the station.
At the station, the police members ordered him to go to the barber and to return to the station to take his cigarettes.
He told them that his hair was short and doesn’t need to be cut.
The police members thin shaved his hair and ordered him to leave.
Violations against personal freedoms have escalated in Gaza.
Several formal statements have been released asserting that the campaign has been stopped particularly after the outrage of people and officials from Hamas Movement and Gaza Government.
However, the recent aforementioned incident shows the police disregard of law.
