6pm, on 4/2/2008, Hammad Abdullah Al Kadi, 40, was killed by a bullet to the head while working on the roof of a residential building in Rafah refugee camp.
The incident took place when 70 Egyptians, who were visiting their relatives in the Gaza Strip, were unable to return to Egypt.
They threw stones at Egyptian border forces after they refused to open Salah Ad Deen gate at the Rafah Crossing.
In return, the soldiers threw tear gas and opened fire in the air to disperse them.
The tension escalated and there were reports of heavy gunfire in the area.
As a result, six Palestinians were injured and Al Kadi was killed.
This was followed by the throwing of stones along the border, and the exchange of fire from both sides of the border.
According to preliminary information, there were a number of casualties among the Egyptian soldiers.
