At app. 4pm, on 7/2/2008, a resident of the Al Shaja'ia neighborhood, 21-year-old Mohammed Badawi, was killed. He was returning from visiting one of his friends in the Az Zaitoun neighborhood. While in his car with a number of his friends, a bus filled with armed men followed. The gunmen opened fire at him, which led to his killing and the injury of one of his friends. Az Zaitoun is a neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
