Thousands of unemployed Palestinian protested today in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council, demanding to provide them with employment opportunities, and support them with every possible mean.
Palestinian police forces opened fire in the air as protesters started throwing stones at the building of the PLC.
According to Al Mezan field sources, on 29 August, at approximately 10:30 am, around three thousand unemployed Palestinians gathered in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council demanding to provide them with employment opportunities, and to draw the world's attention to their suffering after years since they lost their living sources.
In contrast with previous protests, today's protest witnessed throwing stones at the building of the PLC, the thing that required immediate response by Police forces who consequently opened fire in the air to stop the riot actions.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expresses solidarity with the workers who lost their permanent jobs which negatively affected their life conditions.
An employment program that offered temporal jobs for a big number of Palestinians, that was sponsored by the PNA also stopped.
Further, the governmental employees have not received their full salaries since the withdrawal of funds to the PNA earlier this year.
Further more, the living levels are constantly increasing, as prices of products are growing despite the deterioration of the economic situation in the OPT.
Al Mezan emphasizes that the ongoing current crises must not be overlooked.
On another hand, Al Meza condemns the riot actions that took place in front of the PLC, and demands the PNA to take serious steps in order to reduce the suffering of the unemployed Palestinians.
It also confirms the importance of adapting democratic and civilized ways for the demand of legal rights, and believes that riot will only lead to more problems particularly under the current circumstances.
