Today, 31 July 2007, Israeli prison authorities announced the death of the prisoner Shadi Saeed Siliman Sa'aiyda in the Nafha desert prison.
Sa'aiyda was 28 when he died.
Sa'aida; who works in the Palestinian security in the West Bank, was arrested by IOF on 30 July 2005, in the town of Ramallah.
He is originally from Al Maghazi Refugee camp in middle Gaza.
On 15 July 2007, he was sentenced to multiple life imprisonment.
His family told Al Mezan that they were not notified of a deterioration of his health.
It is known that the Palestinian and Arab prisoners held by Israel are imprisoned under conditions that do not meet the relevant internationally accepted standards.
They lack proper health services and are routinely subjected to torture and inhumane treatment.
In addition, they face arbitrary, aggressive searches in which tear gas and live bullets are regularly used.
Many face prolonged solitary detention.
And they have been frequently deprived from regular family visits.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights holds the Israeli authorities responsible for the death of Sa'aida.
Israel has a responsibility to allow for impartial investigation into the conditions under which Sa'aiyda died.
Al Mezan calls for the formation of an international investigation committee to carry out the investigation.
Sa'aiyda's family must be permitted to adequate legal and medical representation during the investigation.
