Al Mezan Condemns the Acts of Abduction, Calls for Investigation into Ayyad's Murder

The manifestations of the state of insecurity have increased in the Gaza Strip recently.
Today, 7 October 2007, a new murder occurred as 30-year-old Rami Khader Ayyad was killed in ambiguous circumstances.
In addition, three explosions occurred in the towns of Gaza, Khan Younis, and Rafah.
According to filed investigations by Al Mezan, Ayyad's body was found in a field in the As-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City.
Sources at the Autopsy Department at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza reported that the victim was shot in the head and chest.
No signs of torture were found on his body.
Ayyad was abducted by unknown men at 4pm on Saturday 6 October 2007 as he was on his way home from his work at the Holy Bible Society.
On 15 April 2007, an explosive device was denoted at the entrance of the Holy Bible Society on.
The Society's entrance sustained partial damage but there were no casualties.
Al Mezan has also documented three explosions that occurred in the Gaza Strip under unclear circumstances on Friday 5 October 2007.
The first explosion occurred at the entrance of a house owned by 33-year-old Khairy Ahmad Abu Al Khair, which is located in Al Sheikh Rudwan neighborhood in Gaza City.
The second targeted the house of Mohammed Ismail Hamdan in the Al Amal neighborhood of Khan Younis town.
Moreover, an explosive device exploded at the gate of the Rafah Municipality in south Gaza.
These explosions caused damages to the buildings but no injuries were reported.
No information has been made available regarding the identity perpetrators or their motives.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the murder of Ayyad and the increasing occurrence of abductions, torture, and murder in Gaza.
Three Gazans have been killed recently in similar circumstances without uncovering the circumstances under which the crimes were committed, or brining any person to justice.
Additionally, Al Mezan has documented the abduction of dozens of citizens by masked men.
One recent case has been Imad Abed Imduokh, who was badly tortured as the pictures obtained by Al Mezan show.
Imduokh was shot in his right leg and was left bleeding near the Ad-Dura hospital in Gaza City, and has therefore sustained critical wounds.
In light of the aforementioned incidents, Al Mezan calls for serious investigations into the murder of Ayyad, and the disclosure of the circumstances under which the murder occurred.
The Center renews its calls for investigation into other crimes of abduction, torture, and murder in the Gaza Strip.
The perpetrators of such crimes must be promptly brought to justice END
