At about 8 a.m. on Thursday, 3 August 2023, the Israeli navy opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats located in the al-Waha maritime area, northwest of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza District. This resulted in the injury of 22-year-old fisher Iyad Hamza Kaskin, with a rubber bullet in his left flank, and caused damage to the engine of Kaskin’s boat and the engine of another boat owned by 38-year-old fisher Rafeeq Khalid Abu Riyala. Medical sources at al-Shifa Hospital described the injury of Kaskin as minor.
