Yesterday Naeem Abdelkareem Abdallah Abu Maghassieb, 33, was mysteriously killed after being shot in the chest.
Kamal Ahmad al-Imam, 42, also passed away in a tunnel in Rafah city.
Documenting and monitoring resources at Al Mezan show that the death toll of domestic violence rose to 110 since early 2008.
Tunnels’ death toll during the same period also rose to 29.
According to the investigations of Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, Abu Maghassieb was killed while he was on a cart with his wife on their way back home, located in al-Salqa valley.
He was shot by a stray bullet when he was passing the al-Mahattah junction near Abu Musabbeh mosque in Deir al-Balah.
The deceased was a dairy peddler.
The Center’s investigations show there are repeated deaths resulting from stray bullets and, sometimes, stray shells as in the case of Asma Hassan Junied, 19.
Her right hand was amputated and pieces of shrapnel hit various parts of her body after a rocket shell fell into her house, which is close to al-Rees hill to the northeast of Gaza city on Friday, 29 August 2008.
Al Mezan sources say that two persons were killed and other 12 persons, mostly children, were injured by stray bullets this year.
Moreover, mysterious killings continue to occur, especially when persons are kidnapped and shortly killed by gunmen.
They usually get tortured and receive harsh treatment.
This is evident on the victims’ bodies.
The last case was the killing of Raed Muhammad al-Harazeen, 32, who was kidnapped, killed and found close to his house 90 minutes later.
He was kidnapped on Monday, 15 September 2008, form his house to the east of Gaza city.
He passed away around 14:30 on Wednesday, 17 September 2008.
Nothing else was revealed about this incident.
Tunnels’ death toll continuously rises this year, recording higher numbers.
29 persons passed away in Rafah tunnels and 34 were injured.
The last one to pass away was Kamal Ahmad al-Imam, 42, of Khan Younis city.
His family confirmed to the Center’s researcher that Kamal passed away inside a tunnel at around 11:30pm on Monday 22 September 2008.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expresses its deep sorrow for the continuous killing and injuring of civilians.
It calls the Ministry of Interior to unveil the circumstances of the killing of Abu Maghassieb and other cases where perpetrators remain unidentified.
The Center asserts that protecting the life and property of people is the one of the most important duties of any authority or government.
The Center also believes that the rising number of tunnels’ death toll should prompt the competent authorities to take action and procedures to end such a phenomenon and protect civilians’ life.
