In the evening hours on Sunday 1 March 2014, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested Omar Tayseer Abu Hasheesh, 28, near the separation fence between Gaza Strip and Israel north of Um An-Nasser Bedouin village in North Gaza district.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigation, the detainee left his house at approximately 9:00 am on Saturday.
His family knew about his detention when their detainee neighbor Tareq Al Zoghaobi phoned his family on Saturday evening, telling them that Omar is in Ashkelon prison.
According to Al Mezan’s filed information, Abu Hasheesh approached the border fence in order to enter the occupied territories searching for work.
