(6:00 pm) The belligerent Israeli Occupation Forces continue to escalate their hostile activities against the Palestinian civilians in Gaza Strip.
Following killing 5 Palestinians and wounding more than 200 others in Al-Aqsa mosque/Jerusalem yesterday, the Israeli soldiers used live ammunition and rubber bullets against civilians in Gaza Strip.
As a result, 83 people were wounded; four of them are seriously injured.
Since the early mourning, the Palestinians in Gaza Strip have been on a general strike protesting the massacre committed by the Israeli Occupation forces in Al-Aqsa mosque.
Hundreds of Palestinian young men demonstrated nearby the Israeli military sites in Gaza Strip such as Ghosh Kateef settlements by Khan-Younis, Kfar Darom settlement by Deir-Elbalah, Alshuhada cross road leading to Nitsarim settlement south of Gaza city, and Beit-Hanoun (Erez) checkpoint, the northern gate of Gaza Strip.
The Israeli soldiers responded by firing live ammunition and rubber bullets injuring at least 83 people.
Four of the wounded were seriously injured.
These are: 15-year old Mohammed Nawwaf Abu Oaimer with a chest injury 17-year old Khalid Hmeideh Al-Soury with a head injury.
16-year old Mohammed Omar Elian El-Aggad with a chest injury 14-year old Mohammed Jameel Al-Kassass with a chest injury.
Till now, the Israeli Occupation forces are still shooting fire and escalating the situation.
In light of this dangerous situation, AL-MEZAN Center for Human Rights considers the Israeli Occupation Forces fully responsible for the dangerous escalation and the use of lethal force against the Palestinian civilians.
We, on the other hand, call upon the International Community, especially the state parties to the “Fourth Geneva Conventions” to assume their responsibility and immediately intervene to stop this escalation and provide the protection for the Palestinian civilians.
