At around 7:15am on Friday, 1 November 2019, Anan Sa’ad Mohammed Abu Zneid, 27, was pronounced dead at the European Gaza Hospital due to wounds he had sustained after falling down from the fourth floor of his house in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Al Mezan’s documentation shows that at around 6:30am on Friday, the police raided Abu Zneid’s house, which located in eastern Khan Younis city, to arrest him. The police entered the building, which consists of five stories, and searched the house looking for him. Meanwhile, Abu Zneid fell down from the fourth floor on to the ground. Police sources said that he was trying to escape from the house when he fell. He was transferred to the European Gaza Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
The police in Gaza stated that there were three arrest warrants for Abu Zneid and two prison sentences were issued by courts in relation to various cases, but he had not responded to several summonses sent to him by the police.
Al Mezan regrets the death of Abu Zneid and calls for a credible, prompt investigation into the incident.
