During the past days, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) escalated its aggression and launching several air raids in areas across the Gaza Strip.
The escalation followed the announcement of Palestinian resistance movements its responsibility for attacking an Israeli military jeep.
Four persons, including two children, were killed as the IOF targeted a group of children who were playing football.
Meanwhile, the IOF launched a series of air strikesinthe Gaza Strip, as a result of which seven persons were killed, including three children, and 54 persons were injured, including 12 children and eight women.
Ten injuries were describedas critical by Palestinian medical sources.
The Israeli attacks also caused partial damage to five houses, three industrial facilities, and one of the buildings belonging to theGaza Electricity Distribution Company.
Ten sheep and 40 doves were killed as poultry and livestock farm was also targeted and damaged.
While Israeli warplanes carried out its air strikes against military training sites and in open areas,Israeli officials issued statements warning againststepping up their attacks against residential areas.
The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights reiterates its stance stronglycondemning the ongoing Israeli escalation and attacks.
Al Mezan asserts that the IOF’s actionsamount to war crimes and clearly show the complete Israeli disregard forthe lives of civilians as it premeditatedly killedand injured civilianswho were merely trying to rescue children injured in an Israeli earlier shelling, east of Gaza City.
Al Mezan calls on the international community to promptly intervene to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression particularly in light of the Israeli statements threatening to target civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Al Mezan calls on the UN Secretary General to endorse a position that is in line with the principles of international law and defends the victims of human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
Al Mezanstresses the importance of an immediate intervention by The High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to ensure full compliance and respect by the government of Israel for the provisions ofthe Convention.
It also reiterates its previous calls on civil society organizations all over the world to continue to practice pressure on their governments to promptly intervene in order to ensure full respect for human rights and the principles international humanitarian law in theoPt.
Al Mezan asserts that the failure of the international community to uphold its obligations has further encouraged Israel to commit more crimes against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
