IOF Escalates Its Attacks on Gaza, Kills One and Injures Nine, Two of Them Children

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) has escalated its aggression on the Gaza Strip.
 In the last 24 hours, the IOF carried out two aerial attacks, injuring five, one critically.
 The IOF also attacked a motorcycle, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of three others, one of whom was a child.
 Another child was injured by gunfire when the IOF opened fire along the eastern border of the Gaza Strip.
  According to information collected by the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, at approximately 9:35 pm on Tuesday 27 December 2011, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile targeting a blue Nissan car that was travelling on Al Jalaa’ street in Gaza City.
 As a result, the car was destroyed and four persons in it were injured, one critically.
 A passerby, Fadi Zuhair Al ‘Akawi, 20, from Al Sheikh Redwan neighborhood, sustained moderate injuries.
  In a separate incident, at approximately 6:50 pm on the same day, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile targeting a motorcycle that was travelling on the Jabaliya costal road to the east, opposite Concorde Wedding Hall and near the Abu Sharekh crossing in Jabaliya, North Gaza district.
 As a result, Abdullah Khattab Omar At-Telbani, 22, from Ash-Sheikh Redwan neighborhood, was killed.
 According to medical sources at Kamal Odwan Hospital, At-Telbani’s body was dismembered.
 Another three persons were injured in the attack.
 Al Mezan has identified them as follows:   ·         Emad Ali Hasanien, 14; ·         Nahedh Tayseer Ma’rouf, 21; and ·         Mohammed Ash-Shandeghli, 21.
  Medical sources described their injuries as moderate.
 Two houses, four commercial stores, and a vehicle were also damaged in the attack.
  At approximately 11:00 pm on Monday 26 December 2011, IOF forces regularly positioned at the separation fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel east of Al Msaddar village in Middle Gaza district opened fire at Palestinian houses in the area.
 The firing continued until the morning hours of Tuesday 27 December 2011.
  At approximately 9:00 am on Tuesday 27 December 2011, the IOF again opened sporadic fire on the same area.
 As a result, Hamza Mohammed At-Telbani, 12, sustained a bullet wound in his left thigh.
 He was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital for medical treatment.
  The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the Israeli attacks, which resulted in the killing and injury of civilians and destruction of houses and civilian property.
  Al Mezan reiterates its previous calls on the international community to promptly intervene to end Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law.
 It also calls on the international community to work towards realization of justice and accountability in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), to pursue those who ordered or committed war crimes, and to bring them to justice.
 Al Mezan stresses the importance of ending the international community’s grant of immunity with respect to violations of human rights and IHL in the oPt.
