The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have continued to escalate their aggression against the Gaza Strip: three persons were killed during the evening hours of Sunday 30 October 2011, and one person sustained critical injury.
The number of persons killed over the past two days stands at twelve.
Nonetheless, the international community has remained silent, failing to fulfill its legal and ethical obligations to the Gaza Strip’s civilian population.
At approximately 1:15 am on Monday 31 October 2011, Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at a group of youths in the Jabal Az-Zaitoun area, in the northeast of Tal Az-Za’tar neighborhood, Jabalia, North Gaza district.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
At approximately 11:45 pm on Sunday 30 October 2011, Israeli aircraft fired at least one missile at a group of men from the Al Ansar Brigades, the military wing of the Al Ahrar Movement, while they were gathered near the Islamic University branch in Ma’an area in Khan Younis.
As a result, two of the men were killed.
Al Mezan has identified them as follows:
Ali Abdullah Hussein Al ‘Aqqad, 25; and
Yousif Rawhi Mahmoud Abu ‘Abdu, 21.
Both of them were from Khan Younis.
Ten minutes after this attack, Israeli aircraft attacked the same area for the second time.
At approximately 6:00 am on Monday 31 October 2011, ambulance teams were able to access and collect the two dead bodies.
At approximately 2:30 am on Sunday 30 October 2011, Israeli aircraft fired at least one missile at two persons who were on a motorcycle near Gaza International Airport in Ash-Shoka neighborhood, to the east of Rafah.
As a result, Ahmad Ali Jarghon, 25, was killed, and the second passenger was admitted to Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital, where his injury was described as critical.
Both of the men were declared as field commanders of the National Resistance Brigades, the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in Rafah.
These attacks took place as Israeli drones flew intensively in Gaza’s skies, while news reports revolve around a ceasefire in the field beginning from 6:00 am on Sunday under the sponsorship of Egypt.
Al Mezan condemns this escalation of Israeli aggression and its ongoing violations of international humanitarian law, especially premeditated killings carried out in the Gaza Strip.
The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights calls for international intervention to put an end to Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law and to protect the population of the Gaza Strip.
Al Mezan asserts that the continuing failure of the international community to fulfill its commitments contributes to further violations and crimes and encourages Israel to continue its acts of aggression.
