On Monday 24 October 2011, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized an awareness workshop on “Child Rights and Protection Mechanisms” for the students of Ash-Shoka Secondary School, in Rafah.
Mr.
Mohammed Abdullah, Al Mezan’s fieldworker in Rafah, opened the workshop, which was held in the school lab room.
Mr.
Abdullah thanked the school administration and the 30 students participating in the workshop for their cooperation and ongoing communication with Al Mezan.
He stressed the importance of raising children’s awareness of their rights and the special protection mechanisms available to them.
Mr.
Gharib As-Sinwar, Al Mezan’s fieldworker in Khan Younis, discussed child rights and the associated special protection mechanisms during the workshop, which lasted four hours.
The workshop is part of a series of activities under a project entitled “Promotion of 1612 Reporting and Monitoring Mechanisms,” supported by the Save the Child - UK.
