Short Link:
Egyptian diplomat Hussam Hussein Abdel Salam Al Musseli has been freed unharmed.
As is usually the case the kidnappers remain unknown, however the Ministry of Interior asserted that the case would not be closed.
At around 11.
30am on February 9th, Hussam Al Musseli was kidnapped in front of the Ministry of Social Affairs close to the Egyptian Embassy in Gaza City, by an unknown group calling itself the Al-Ahrar Brigades.
The kidnappers freed Hussam Al Musseli on February 11th and, according to available information, he contacted the Egyptian Embassy in Gaza to inform them that he was in Musaab Ibn Omair Mosque in Al- Zeitoun neighborhood south of Gaza City.
Police rushed to the scene immediately and found him safe and unharmed.
The kidnappers remain unknown up until now.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights welcomes the release of Al Musseli, and condemns his kidnapping, which adds to the state of insecurity and breaches the law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT).
Further, Al Mezan believes the PNA's inability to undertake its duties and bring kidnappers to justice has encouraged more abductions after the PNA surrenders to blackmail and threats thus assisting the kidnappers in achieving their objectives.
Al Mezan reiterates calls for the PNA to take serious procedures to halt such deterioration and insecurity which is threatening the social structure of Palestinian society.
