Short Link:
The office of Al Dameer Association for Human Rights in Gaza City was broken into and some of its belongings were stolen or sabotaged.
At approximately 7:30am on Sunday 15 November 2009, one of Al Dameer staff members went to open the office and was surprised when he found the door was unlocked.
When he entered the office, there was no one inside it.
Then he looked around the office and found that there was a clear mishandling of papers and documents.
According to Mr.
Khalil Abu Shamaleh, director of Al Dameer, the assailants took two PC boxes and the memory stick of a digital camera, pointing out that the expensive camera itself was not stolen, which suggests that there was in intention of robbery.
The door was opened, seemingly, using special tools without broking or damaging it.
When a carpenter was called to repair the door, he discovered that it needed no repair.
This raises doubts that the perpetrators are common robbers and the act was not a common robbery.
In light of the above, Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights expresses its full solidarity with Al Dameer Association for Human Rights.
Al Mezan condemns the assault against Al Dammer and calls on the Gaza Government police to open an investigation and bring perpetrators to justice promptly.
