As infighting recommences, toll of Palestinians killed reaches 49, and 197 injured

The armed clashes between Fatah and Hamas continued despite the declaration of a third ceasefire.
The toll of death has reached 49 while 197 have been injured since the commencement of the latest wave of clashes on Sunday 13 May 2007.
Parties have intensified incitement through faction-owned media.
Al Mezan documented increasing damage to private property, and of masked armed men controlling all main streets in Gaza and searching civilians.
Al Mezan's fieldworkers reported that the unidentified corpse of a person who was killed on Thursday 15 May 2007 was knows as 25-year-old Ibrahim Tawfiq Abu Rqee'a.

Additionally, a clash between the two factions near the fishermen harbor in Gaza resulted in the killing of one 40-year-old fisherman; Samir Mahmoud Al Amoudi.
This clash occurred at approximately 4.

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the recommencement of infighting in Gaza, which has caused severe suffering and grave loss of life over the past few days.
This fighting must stop immediately, and the two parties must bear their responsibilities towards their people at this particular juncture.
The Center calls for an immediate end of incitement and all kinds of violations of human rights in Gaza.
