At approximately 11:30 pm on Sunday 27 May 2012, Israeli gunboats surrounded and opened fire at a Palestinian fishing boat off the coast opposite Rafah.
The Palestinian boat was about two and a half nautical miles from the shore when the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) ship opened fire at it.
The Israeli soldiers ordered the boat to sail 500 meters to the west, then ordered one of those on board, Mohammed Ahmed Al ‘Amoudi, 59, to take off his clothes, jump into the water, and swim towards them.
The IOF then ordered Naem Mahmoud Abu Hanoun, 65, to leave the area and sail to Khan Younis.
Al ‘Amoudi was still in custody as this news item was being published at 2:50 pm on Monday 28 May 2012.
