In the morning hours on Thursday 10 November 2011, the Internal Security Apparatus banned a political event for the General Union of Palestinian Women.
The event was scheduled to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday 12 November 2011 at the As-Salam Restaurant.
The event was entitled “Dimensions of Approaching the UN to Obtain Membership.
” The event was held in part to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the death of the late president Yaser ‘Arafat.
The management of the restaurant informed the General Union of Palestinian Women that the Internal Security Apparatus had banned the event.
