At approximately 8am on Sunday 26 June 2011, Wesam Medhat Attiya Hamdan, 3, was injured when an unknown device exploded.
He was injured by shrapnel in different parts of his body.
The child was near his house when the explosion took place.
He was as admitted to An-Naser Hospital where his injury was described as critical.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, the child’s father, Medahat, said that at the time his son left the house, he heard the sound of an explosion nearby.
He stated that he found his son injured from shrapnel and did not know the reasons for the explosion.
The police arrived at the scene, initiated an investigation, and searched the house.
