The Egyptian authorities announced that the Rafah Crossing would be reopened in the morning hours on Tuesday 22 February 2011. About 300 persons are expected to be allowed to travel via the crossing daily. A list including the names and dates of birth of persons who wish to enter Egypt from Gaza is expected be sent daily to the Egyptian authorities. The categories of people who are expected to be allowed to cross into Egypt include patients, students, persons who holds visas, and internationals. At approximately 7pm on Friday 18 February 2011, the Egyptian authorities allowed Palestinians who had been trapped in Egypt to return to the Gaza Strip. Palestinians who were not already in Egypt were not allowed to return to the Gaza Strip via Rafah crossing until this news headline was published at 12:30pm on 20 February 2011. About 1,115 persons were allowed into the Gaza Strip. According to the Egyptian Ports Authority, the working hours on the crossing will be from 11am until 4pm.
