At approximately 10:30am on Tuesday 11 January 2011, Ashraf Omar Hassan, 34, who was detained at the Ansar prison, west of Gaza city, died as he was taken by the police from the prison to the hospital.
Hassan was a resident of Al Sheikh Redwan neighborhood.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, Hassan was detained for felonies a few months ago.
He suffered from a heart disease.
He was admitted to the hospital five times during his detention.
The police reported that Hassan fainted when he was in the prison and was immediately taken by the police to be transferred to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza city.
However, he died on the way and was pronounced dead by doctors upon arrival at the hospital.
