On 25/2/2008, the IOF closed the Erez Crossing completely, even for medical patients and internationals.
They also prevented civil affairs employees from accessing their work near the crossing.
All people in the vicinity of the crossing were prevented from movement, even into the customs area.
The IOF warned any individuals or groups from approaching this area.
This sudden decision came after the People's Committee against the Siege decided to organize a protest by forming a human chain along Salad Ad Deen road from Erez crossing until the Rafah crossing.
