On Saturday, 5 July 2008, at approximately 9:00 am, medical sources in the European Hospital in Khan Younis announced the death of 16-year-old Tariq Aabed Odwan from injuries he suffered from the explosion of a suspicious object in the Gaza International Airport, near As Shoka village, in Rafah.
The child, who lives near the Airport, was playing with his 13-year-old sister when the blast occurred.
Both of them sustained wounds from shrapnel to different part of their body.
The boy was hit by shrapnel to different part of his body and his sister was injured in the head.
Medical sources described the sister's injury as moderate.
It is believed that the object is from the IOF remains of IOF incursions, which occur frequently in the area.
