On Sunday 15 September 2013, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized an awareness workshop entitled “Palestinian Children’s Rights,” held at Rafah Preparatory School D for Girls.
The human rights teacher at the school, Haneen Al Banna, welcomed Al Mezan’s speaker and thanked the Center for its efforts to enhance human rights culture.
Yihya Muhareb, lawyer at Al Mezan, opened the workshop by welcoming the participants.
He expressed his hope that the workshop would enhance the participants’ knowledge of children’s rights under Palestinian and international law.
He highlighted Al Mezan’s role in following the human rights situation in Gaza and children’s rights in particular.
The participants were introduced to Palestinian Children’s Rights Law No.
7 of 2004; Palestinian Labor Law No.
7 of 2000; Juvenile Criminal Law No.
2 of 1937; and the Palestinian Basic Law as amended in 2005.
The workshop lasted for about two hours.
