Israel Occupation Forces Continues Attacks against Palestinian Fishermen, Arrest Two and Confiscate their Boat

Israeli occupation forces continue to systematically target Palestinian fishermen and boats off the coast along the Gaza Strip.
Over the past three days, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights has documented three incidents in which Israeli naval forces opened fire at fishermen who were fishing in the allowed six nautical-mile fishing zone.
On Friday, 7 June 2013, two fishermen were detained while fishing in the 6-nautical-mile zone.
According to Al Mezan’s investigations, on Friday, 7 June 2013, at around 3:30 am, Israeli navy opened fire at one fishing boat, south west of Gaza City, 6 nautical miles off the coast.
Two fishermen, Khader Al-Saeedi, 27, and Hassan Murad, 24, were both detained.
The two fishermen were led to an unknown destination, and their boat was confiscated.
Similarly, on Thursday, 6 June 2013, at approximately 9:00 pm, Israeli vessels also opened their fire at Palestinian fishing boats off the coast north west of Gaza City, in Al-Waha area, close to the maritime separation border.
No injuries were reported.
On Wednesday, 5 June 2013, Israeli naval forces opened fire several times at Palestinian fishing boats in the same area.
Fishermen had to leave the area and abandon their work as a result.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns Israel’s ongoing violations and attacks against Palestinian fishermen and stresses that the silence of international parties toward Israel’s practices and attacks against civilians lends impunity to Israel and provides cover for its unlawful practices.
Al Mezan, therefore, calls on the international community and all concerned parties to intervene to protect Palestinian civilians from Israel’s systematic and nonstop attacks.
