At 4:30pm on Friday, 3 August 2018, Israeli forces located around the security fence to the east of the Gaza Strip used live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, and tear-gas canisters against Palestinians joining the Great Return March demonstration organized in east Rafah district. 17 Protesters, including one child, were injured, including seven by live fire and one of these a child. Three of the casualties were cased by shrapnel, one by a tear-gas canister, three by wounds, and three suffered from breathing difficulties due to heavy use of tear-gas by Israeli forces.
