At 2pm on Friday,29 June 2018, Israeli forces located on the security fence used live ammunition, plastic-coated steel bullets, and tear-gas canisters against Palestinian youth, children, and women joining the Great Return March demonstration in east Rafah. One child was killed and 74 other Palestinians were injured, including 21 children and three women. Of them, 12 were wounded by live fire, 10 by shrapnel, and seven by tear-gas canisters. 43 others suffered from breathing difficulties resulted by heavily used tear gas. Three of these casualties sustained different injuries. At 5:40pm on the same day, the Israeli forces opened live fire at Mohammed Al-Hamayda, 24-year old resident of Al Shabora area in Rafah city, injuring him in the stomach. Al-Hamayda was rushed to the European Gaza Hospital, where doctors announced his death at 8:15pm on the same day.
