At 2pm on Tuesday, 17 April 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders in Malaka area in Al Zaitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza city opened fire and launched tear-gas canisters at tens of protesters who gathered near the separation borders in demonstration to demand their right of return to their homes from which they were expelled in 1948 and 1967. Five protesters, including a child, were injured—one by live fire and four by shrapnel. Medical staff at Al Shifa Hospital assessed the wounds to range from light to moderate. Israeli shooting continued until 7pm on the same day.
