At 12:00pm on Saturday, 31 March 2018, Israeli forces located on the southeastern borders of Burij refugee camp opened fire and launched tear-gas canisters at hundreds of protesters who demonstrated in eastern Burij as part of the ‘Great Return March’, called for by a national committee of Palestinian factions. During the demonstration, protesters threw stones at Israeli forces, which responded by using live ammunition and tear-gas canisters against protesters; 11 Palestinians, including a child and a photojournalist, were injured by live ammunition, some moderately while others lightly. Israeli shooting at protesters continued until 7:30pm on the same day.
