At approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday, 24 March 2016, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested Hani Fathi Shourab Isleem, 40, resident of Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City. His brother told Al Mezan that Hani was travelling via Erez crossing heading to Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem to undergo a joint replacement in his right leg. Hani’s brother received a phone call at approximately 5:00 PM from an Israeli intelligence officer informing him that Hani has been arrested.
