Hala from the Al Salam neighborhood in Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip was the fifth child in her family. “Her parents named her Hala (Beautiful) because she was very gorgeous”, her grandmother said.
On 4 August 2014, the Al Shaer’ house, which is located adjacent to the Masood family’s house, was bombarded by an Israeli missile. Blocks of concrete and rubble fell on Hala’s bed while she was in her room. Hala was immediately killed at the age of nine days with her sister Raghad who was 2.
