9-year-old Mustafa Ra'fat Al-Loh from Deir Al Balah was especially close to his grandfather perhaps in part because he was the first grandchild. Mustafa liked playing with his grandfather and with his friends and he liked playing football. Mazen, a school-friend of Mustafa, misses him a lot. ‘Mustafa and I were at the same school. We used to play hide and seek and football together. We were happy,’ he says.
At around 5pm on Wednesday, 20 August 2014, the Al-Loh family home was attacked by an Israeli warplane. The house was completely destroyed and Mustafa, his parents and his two brothers were all killed. It took several hours to find Mustafa’s remains due to the force of the explosion.
