Short Link:
At approximately 6:00 am on Saturday 24 May 2014, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats which were in the sea west of Al Waha area in North Gaza district.
They attacked the fishing boat of Kamel Deeb Al Anqah, 62, which was 3 nautical miles away, near the illuminated buoys.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigation, Israeli soldiers called the fisherman through loudspeakers and asked him to swim towards them, and shot his boat, but he cut the ropes which connect his nets with the boat and ran away from the place leaving 4 pieces of his fishing nets behind.
As a result of shooting, fishermen abandoned their work and left the place.
No injuries or causalities were reported.
The fisherman went back to the place after the Israeli gunboats were gone to take back his nets, but he didn’t find them.
