IOF Opens Fire at Rubble and Scrap Collectors and Injures One West of Erez Crossing

At approximately 8:00 am on Sunday 13 April 2014, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire at rubble and scrap collectors who approached the borders west of Erez Crossing.
As a result, Rami Hassan As-Sous, 20, sustained a bullet wound in his right leg.
Medical sources in Beit Hanoun hospital described his injury as moderate.
According to Al Mezan’s filed investigations, As-Sous was few meters away from the borders.
his friends carried him 300 meters and then he was carried by a trolley cart to An-Nada towers- which is1000 meters away from the borders- and from there he was carried by the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance to Beit Hanoun hospital.
It’s worth mentioning that rubble and scrap collectors approached the separation fence in order to collect greater amount of rubble to be recycled and sold again.
This is the main source of income for rubble collectors due to severe economic situation.
