At approximately 2:00 pm on Saturday 4 January 2014, the police investigation department in Jabaliya refugee camp arrested five persons for organizing a sit-in in protest against unemployment.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, at approximately 10:00 am on Saturday 14 January 2014, five men organized a sit-in in protest against unemployment.
The set-in was organized for two hours where a number of unemployed men participated.
At the end of the sit-in the participants submitted a letter for the police director asking for jobs.
When the participants went home, the internal security apparatus summoned them for 6 January 2014.
They were detained for few hours and released after signing documents committing not to organize illegal activities.
Al Mezan has identified their names as follows:
· Hussein Ali Al Omari, 37;
· his brother Nafez Ali Al Omari, 48;
· Basel Zaki Moahmmed Al Atawna, 34;
· Imad Ibrahim Mohammed Al Atawna, 33, and
§ Salah Abed, 48.
