At approximately 07:40 am on Sunday 5 May 2013, IOF, stationed at the watchtowers in the eastern separation fence, opened fire on rubble collectors who were in a distance of 250 meters from the fence in Abo Samra area, north of Beit Lahia town.
No injuries were reported.
The field investigations reveal that the rubble collectors approached areas near the separation fence in the aim of collecting the maximum amount of rubble to be able to sell to recycling vendors.
These workers already struggle to make a living in a very difficult economic setting.
