ISA Detains Social Activist in Gaza

On Sunday, 24 March 2013, at approximately 11:00 am, the Internal Security Apparatus (ISA) located in the Jabalyia refugee camp summoned Hisham Abdel Malek (known as Salem Deeb), 39, social activist and resident of As-Sheikh Zayed, north of the Gaza Strip.
Abdel Malek was transferred to the ISA’s headquarters in Gaza.
He was released two days later, on Tuesday, 26 March 2013, at approximately 2:00 pm.
In his Affidavit, Abdel Malek stated that he was detained on the grounds of his political activity and was interrogated about the activity of al-Baqiyat as-Salihat association which has been shut down by the ISA for over a year.
The social activist was on a hunger strike throughout his detention period.
